ABSTRACT

A study has been made on the effects of thermochemical treatment applied to a diamond micropowder and designed to reduce the number of sharp edges at the surfaces of the diamond particles, which influences the high-pressure sintering of polycrystalline diamond. That treatment increases the poured density of the powder and increases the shrinkage, while reducing the number of particles that break under the high pressure at room temperature, and also accelerating the compaction on subsequent high-temperature treatment.
