ABSTRACT

By intermittent administration of dimethylnitrosamine a chronic liver damage resembling humanLaennec's cirrhosis was produced in dogs.Haemodynamic measurements—using the electromagnetic flow meter—revealed a “hyperdynamic state”, evidenced by an increased cardiac output and decreased peripheral vascular resistance.The relative contribution of the hepatic artery flow to total liver blood flow was increased, the total liver flow was reduced as compared to the control group.Biochemical liver function-tests in this animal-model showed the pathological changes as seen in human cirrhosis.
