ABSTRACT

A Hall-bar mesa etched into a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure with a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) has been partly covered by a high Tc superconducting film and placed in a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane of the film and the 2DEG. In this way a well characterized magnetic field variation across the 2DEG can be generated, since the magnetic field profile close to the superconducting film was first measured by magneto-optic techniques. We have studied the Hall effect and the magnetoresistance in the 2DEG in the case, where the magnetic field gradient can be considered constant across the 2DEG. More... »
