ABSTRACT

Spermidine prevented the loss of chlorophyll from detached komatsuna (Brassica campestris cv. komatsuna) leaves in the dark but caused a striking reduction in light. It also inhibited photochemical activity in leaves incubated in the dark and light. Striking changes were seen in the chloroplast ultrastructure in light; the envelope was lacking, grana were dilated and thylakoids were distributed throughout the cytoplasm. More... »
