ABSTRACT

The exudation cinetics of total phenolic compounds in parallel with total sugars and amino acids, during the five first days of plant life, was studied for two members of the legume family,Glycine max L. Merr. (var. Amsoy 71) andLens culinaris Medicus (var. Anicia), and by two different methods: water culture and sand+water culture (both under sterile conditions).Whatever the method used, the phenolic compounds exudation is already high in the first day of plant life: it can reach 50 μg/plant in the sand+water experiments. Further, in the case of water culture experiments, a phenolic compounds reabsorption may be observed at the same time as those of amino acids and sugars; then a new exudation is seen the fifth day of experiments; this phenomena is not seen in sand+water experiments. A ten-fold increase for phenolic compounds is noted between the sand+water exudation in comparison with pure water experiments. More... »
