ABSTRACT

The modern medical methods for treatment of ulcer disease have led to a decrease in surgical treatment and an increase in ulcer complications. Vagotomy and resection both have their specific indications, depending on the pathophysiological conditions. Our modified version of the Billroth-II resection using a Roux-en-Y anastomosis has been our preferred method in 500 cases for the last 10 years. Due to the fact that the anastomosis is free of reflux, this technique has several advantages compared with the Billroth I and II resection, ad demonstrated by follow-up examinations. More... »
