ABSTRACT

Kerne verschiedener Bereiche und Entwicklungsstadien eines monomiktischen Sees mit inversem Temperaturprofil verdeutlichen die Geschichte des Sees und seiner Sedimente. Sie bestehen aus gerundeten und ungerundeten klastischen Bestandteilen der den See umgebenden Gesteine, aus Silten und Tonen des Überlaufs eines Schichtflutbeckens s. des Sees, aus Evaporiten, Algenmatten und im Liegenden aus marinem Detritus. Ursachen und Auswirkungen einer ungewöhnlichen Monomixis mit „turnover“ im Sommer werden diskutiert. Der limnologische Kreislauf ergibt jahreszeitliche Zyklen in der Ablagerung biogener und evaporitischer Varvite. Die Bildung biogener Karbonate, darunter Laminite, Onkoide, Sphärolithe und „Ooide” im unbewegten Medium wird diskutiert. Mächtigkeit und Ausbildung der einzelnen Sedimente in unterschiedlichen Bereichen des Sees und absolute Altersbestimmungen mittels der14C-Methode erlauben die Zuordnung verschiedener Sedimente zu den einzelnen Entwicklungsstadien des Sees und die Korrelation der14C-Werte mit Auszählungen der Varvite.
