ABSTRACT

The authors sampled 100 round ligaments of the liver during abdominal surgery and carried out 27 attempts at surgical recanalisation. In the 100 histological specimens, only 58 were patent and during the 27 surgical attempts at recanalisation only 4 failed. The anatomical results may seem rather discouraging for the surgeon but should not prevent him from attempting recanalisation of the round ligament. More... »
