ABSTRACT

Evidence is presented for the observation of four structures in the incompletely relaxed part of the energy spectra of fragments emitted in the40Ca+40Ca reaction at 400 MeV. These structures appear to be produced in a direct process. Statistical evaporation processes from primary fragments cannot explain all the observed structures. Excitation of giant resonances is a plausible interpretation. More... »
