ABSTRACT

The mathematical description of the displacement waves in the commensurably and incommensurably modulated phases of X2 Y Z4 type compounds is presented. The resulting modulation of electric field gradient (EFG) tensor and local NMR/NQR frequency is calculated using the Taylor expansion of EFG up to the 4th order in atomic displacements. So obtained frequency modulation was used to determine the angular dependence of the NMR line shape. The agreement between the calculated NMR line shape and the experimental results obtained by different authors is quite good. More... »
