ABSTRACT

An investigation was made of the dependence of the melting points of ternary and quarternary polyamides on their quantitative composition, the reactants in the systems studied being the 1,6-hexanediamine salts of succinic, adipic, azelaic, and sebacic acids and 6-caprolactam, taken in various proportions. The extent to which hydrogen bonding occurs in these polymers was calculated. It was proved tht the melting points of mixed polyamides derived from straight-chain aliphatic diamines and dicarboxylic acids and not containing side chains, substituents, or hetero atoms cannot be below the melting point of polyethylene.
