ABSTRACT

Sparingly soluble hydrated aluminum oxide formed in the primary-loop water of the reactor in the A. F. Ioffe Physics and Engineering Institute of the Academy of Sciences, USSR, as a re-suit of corrosion. An eleetrophoretic filter specially designed to clean up the water made it possible to completely clarify the primary-loop coolant. The filter has a total volume of 10.7 liters, low hydraulic drag, and is simple to service. The effective flowrate through the filter is 0.5 cubic meters perhour. The power drain is 0.3 kW.
