ABSTRACT

ConclusionsThe effect of different factors on the composition and kinetics of the accumulation and consumption of paramagnetic products of the reactions of (C5H5)2TiC2H5Cl and (C5H5)2TiC2-D5Cl with 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane and 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1-nitrosobenzene was studied by EPR. The characteristics of the paramagnetic products were determined, and the EPR spectra were reconstructed. In the case of 3-methyl-2-nitrosopropane, the ethyl-tert-butylnitroxyl radical is formed during these reactions. The previous concepts concerning the homolytic mechanism of the decomposition of the Ti-C σ bond in (C5H5)2TiC2H5Cl and SN2 substitution of the ethyl group by nitroxyl radicals were confirmed.A chain free radical mechanism was proposed for the reaction of (C5H52TiC2H5Cl with the nitroso compounds which includes stages of chain initiation, propagation, transfer, and breaking.
