ABSTRACTThis study examined the effects of prior exposure to videotapes of erotic and nonerotic activities, on the subsequent sexual arousal of 75 nonoffender males. Prior exposure to explicit videotapes depicting rape significantly enhanced subsequent arousal to forced sex but had no impact on arousal to consenting sex. Prior exposure to explicit and nonexplicit consenting sex videotapes did not produce subsequent arousal patterns that significantly differed from that produced by prior exposure to a nonerotic videotape.
