ABSTRACT

A general expression is given for the electrophoretic mobility of a large charged colloidal particle coated with a layer of adsorbed charged polymers. A liquid flow within the polymer layer is taken into account. The potential distribution is calculated on the basis of the non-linear Poisson Boltzmann equation. Simple approximate analytic expressions for the electrophoretic mobility are derived for various cases. More... »
