AUTHORS ABSTRACTThe voltage-clamp technique has been applied to investigate the frequency-dependence of the membrane currents in isolated frog atria. Two stimulation programs were selected. The experimental results were compared with the predictions of a Hodgkin and Huxley type of empirical mathematical model and a close correspondence was observed. The mechanism responsible for the frequency-dependence of the action potential is discussed in connection with the reported results.
