ABSTRACT

Electron microscopy of the inner wall of the capsule of the eight-day old Hymenolepis diminuta cysticercoid reveals two regions: the fibrous layer and the lining of the primitive lacuna. The principal cell type of the fibrous layer is designated as Cell Type A and is fibroblastic in nature. The cell type which forms the lining of the primitive lacuna is designated as Cell Type B and is a bipolar squamous epithelial cell. The fibrous nature of both the outer and inner regions of the capsule wall is discussed. More... »
