ABSTRACT

The research work presented in this paper aims at developing a constitutive model which is capable to determine resistance factor for given penetrometer testing data in clays. The NGI-ADPSoft constitutive model that accounts for anisotropic shear strength and post peak strain softening, is extended with strain rate effect for this purpose. A series of large deformation finite element analyses of different penetrometers in clays including T-bar, ball and cone tests are performed. Some initial results from these analyses are discussed in this paper. More... »
