ABSTRACT

Recently, infectious diseases, such as Ebola fever and Middle East respiratory syndrome, have spread worldwide. To conduct a highly accurate infection screening, our group is working on the development of a non-contact and hand-held infection screening system that can detect infected individuals within 5 s. In this study, we propose a signal processing method to improve the measurement accuracy of the infection screening system. Body surface temperature, heartbeat, and respiration rates are detected by thermography and microwave radars. To evaluate the measurement accuracy, nine subjects (normal and pseudo-infection conditions) were tested with the proposed system in a laboratory.
