ABSTRACT

Using laser vaporization technique and standard Time-Of-Flight (TOF) spectrometric methods, Ionization Potentials (IP) of aluminum and iron clusters have been measured in extensive size ranges. These results are compared with recently published experimental works. For aluminium clusters, our results are extended to larger sizes and reveal new structures. For both types of clusters, the mass spectra recorded systematically for ionization energy just above the threshold reveal clear structures due to small effects in the ionization potential or in the ionization cross section. These effects are discussed in terms of the self consistent Spherical Jellium Background Model (SJBM). More... »
