ABSTRACT

Cartridge mutagenesis procedures were used to create insertion and deletion mutations in the psbE and psbF genes encoding the cytochrome b559 protein of the photosystem II complex in the cyanobacterium, Synechocystis 6803. The PSII complexes of the mutants are inactive. However, the chlorophyll-binding CP47 and CP43 proteins are present in a deletion mutant, indicating that they are stably integrated in thylakoid membranes lacking cyt b559. More... »
