ABSTRACT

It is known that the photoreduction of NADP+ occurs in the chloroplasts of green plants (1). Does this activity arise immediately following the onset of illumination in etiolated material ? The photoreduction of NADP was detected in barley only after 2 hours illumination (2). But on the other hand Wellburn and Hampp found an electron transport linked to photo-system I activity already 15 minutes after the onset of illumination of etiolated oat seedlings using diaminodurene as electron donor (3). Therefore, we decided to investigate again the photoreduction of NADP+ during the illumination of bean etioplasts. More... »
