ABSTRACT

π-Electrons are often responsible for the reactivity and structural diversity of organic compounds. In particular, aromatic systems have played a crucial role in the development of synthetic, theoretical and industrial chemistry. A typical example is the role of organic chromophores — originally as dyes and pigments, but more recently as active components for information and communication technologies.[l] On the macromolecular side conjugated polymers with aromatic building blocks have served as “electronic materials” with attractive electrical, optical, nonlinear optical and even magnetic properties.
