ABSTRACT

Several definitions of endophytic bacteria have been proposed during the last few years (Quispel, 1992; Kloepper, Beuchamp, 1992; Fisher et al. 1992). While they differ among themselves, there is a general agreement that endophytic bacteria are those that live, at least part of their life cycle, in living plant tissues without causing substantial harm and showing no disease symptoms.
