ABSTRACT

A small-particle hematite and a bulk-sized Al-substituted hematite sample have been reinvestigated with high-resolution Mössbauer spectroscopy. By using a distribution analysing method, based on a linear cos2θ relationship for the quadrupole shift and hyperfme field, it is shown that the Morin transition is accompanied with two intermediate magnetic states.
