ABSTRACT

In the paper physico-metallurgical aspects of increase of welded joint life at LCF are described« Generally valid principles, following from structural and fractographieal analyses of welded joints, for increase of their life — e.g. decrease in grain boundary ferrite content as well as reduction of side-plate ferrite together with approaching of cyclic curves stress-strain — are presented. On the basis of these principles SA welded joint of Nb-microalloyed steel, with life at the level of welded steel, was proposed. By means of slip band and dislocation cell configuration it was found out that cyclic plastic strain took place relatively uniformly in all welded joint zones. More... »
