ABSTRACT

Perennial, wild Glycine spp. harbour a wealth of genetic traits useful for the agronomic improvement of the soybean (G. max). Postzygotic incompatibility has necessitated the development of techniques for hybrid embryo rescue and somatic hybridisation, via protoplast fusion, to facilitate gene flow between these species.
