ABSTRACT

Reliable dscrimination of individual gravitational wave pulses against a stochastic background of local events requires a combination of multiple coincidences between 3 or more antennas, and resolving time less than 100 ms. GRAVNET has been set up to facilitate coordination of world wide groups. By changing orientations, four antennas can be optimised for maximum 2-way coincidence sky coverage, (near 100%) or for greatest probability of 4-way coincidences for which sky coverage is reduced (typically to 50%).
