ABSTRACT

While a variety of patient and treatment characteristics have been reported since the Registry began in 1981, other characteristics have only been obtained on patients who entered the program during 1984 or 1985. It is of interest to examine these additional characteristics and their effects on treatment outcomes. Specifically, treatment characteristics, such as number of exchanges per day, hypertonic exchanges per day, volume per exchange, type of equipment and use of insulin, and patient characteristics, such as use of a partner, performance status, visual status, and prior kidney transplant or home dialysis experiences will be related to peritonitis, exit site/tunnel infection, catheter replacements, and days hospitalized.
