ABSTRACT

The author reports the same data and analysis that, on February 29,1988, were presented by G.Pizzella to ‘Les Rencontre de Physique de la Vallée d’Aoste’, La Thuile. The analysis concerns the data collected by the detector mentioned in the title over a period of 18 hours that includes the Mont Blanc 5 neutrinos burst occurrence time. A correlation is found during a period of about two hours centered on the 5 v burst, independently between Maryland and Mont Blanc and Rome and Mont Blanc. The probability for these two correlations to be due to chance is of the order of 3x10-6. It is found that this effect is mainly due to a dozen of large Maryland and Rome events distributed during the above two hours period. The intepretation of these events in terms of gravitational waves (g.w.) originating from the SN1987A should be rejected because it would imply the emission of g.w. over 4π and a frequency band of 1 kHz of an energy too large by a factor of the order of 104. In spite of careful and repeated reconsideration of the whole matter, the authors were not able to find an interpretation of these effects or errors in their hardware or software procedures.
