ABSTRACT

Since 1980, we have been studying the kinetics of 111-In-oxine labeled platelets in a reduced plasma medium. The advantages of 111-In over 51Cr are well known (4, 6, 8,). The method can be used in auto transfusion, regardless of the severity of the thrombocytopenia (5.109 pl/1), and the sites of platelet destruction visualised with a scintillation camera peaked for 173 and 245 kev with a 20% window. The aim of our study is to evaluate the contribution of this method to the diagnosis of thrombocytopenic mechanism in diverse disorders and to assess its value in selecting patients clinically suitable for splenectomy.
