ABSTRACT

Remotely sensed Earth Observation (EO) data is often used for hydrological modelling purposes. Typical information that can be provided by remote sensing is land use type, estimates of percentage paved surface and estimates of evaporation. Within the EC-funded NOAH (New Opportunities for Altimetry in Hydrology) project we focus on an alternative use, which is the use of altimetry data derived from satellites images as well as from air photographs. The altimetry data was used for risk mapping, hydraulic modelling as well as for hydrological modelling. In this paper we focus on Digital Elevation Models (DEM) in hydrologic models for sub basins of the Mosel and in the entire Mosel basin. More... »
