ABSTRACT

Microbial biopolymers show great diversities as well as novelty in their structures and properties (1). The biopolymer applications encompass a wide range as a stabilizer, emulsifier, thickener, adsorbent, and as a rheological control agents. An extracellular microbial polysaccharide, Methylan, was isolated as an extracellular product of Methylobacterium organophilum from methanol and has unusual and potentially valuable gelation behavior.
