ABSTRACT

The (Bi,Pb)-2223 multifilamentary wires and tapes with different filament distribution and resistive barriers have been fabricated by using powder-in tube (PIT) method. Two deformation methods were applied to prepare the wires with different filament distribution, one is ordinary drawing process using round dice, another is rectangular deformation by a “Turk’s head” with four rollers. The Sr-V-O oxides, Bi-2201 and Ag-Cu alloy were used as resistive barriers to reduce the coupling between filaments. The transport a.c. losses were measured on these different wires and tapes at 77K in self-field. The results indicated that the barrier configuration and Jc distribution are important to transport a.c. losses. More... »
