ABSTRACT

The olive tree, Olea europaea L., belongs to the family Oleaceae, which comprises plant species distributed through the tropical and temperate regions of the world. From about 29 genera of this family, only Fraxinus, Jasminum, Ligustrum, Phillyrea, Syringa and Olea have economic or horticultural interest (Heywood 1978).
