ABSTRACT

Bromine-75 offers interesting perspectives for positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals. At Jülich, we have been investigating 75Br production methods (Blessing et al. 1982; Weinreich et al. 1980) and labeling procedures for some years (Coenen et al., in preparation). 75Br is a predominant (75.5%) positron-emitting nuclide with a 1.6-h half-life. Besides the 511-keV annihilation radiation, its principal γ-line is at 286 keV (abundance 92%). It decays to the long-lived radioactive daughter 75Se (T1/2 = 120 days), which does not contribute significantly to the radiation dose, at worst amounting to one-third of the total dose. More... »
