ABSTRACT

The development of new information processing technologies and of computer systems of the new generation depends on the ability to integrate different capabilities of new rapidly growing techniques (e.g. object oriented databases, deductive databases, persistent programming, logical programming, or distributed problem solving) preserving at the same time the ability to reuse all the existing information resource repository.In the frame of the generalized heterogeneous information resource management all computerized data, knowledge and programs existing in an organization are considered to form an information resource.Such data is managed by diverse software systems and may reside on different computer systems linked by a local or a wide area network. The paper covers an approach for the development of the set of the language facilities needed for the generalized representation of the heterogeneous information resources. More... »
