ABSTRACT

In systems exhibiting bulk negative differential conductivity (BNDC) parallel to the applied field, the stationary state with uniform field distribution becomes unstable at the field where the conductivity goes through zero. This transition is induced by long-range electromagnetic interactions giving rise to cooperative behaviour of the charged carriers. The coupling of the charge density and the current density to the Maxwell fields plays therefore an important role. More... »
