ABSTRACT

Transplantation immunology is concerned with the genetically determined incompatibilities consistently displayed when grafts of cells, tissues or organs are exchanged between members of an out-bred population. The cellular isoantigens responsible for inciting a host to respond against a homograft — the homograft reaction — are usually referred to as transplantation antigens. These antigens are determined by co-dominant histocompatibility genes and vary considerably in their relative strengths or sensitizing potencies. More... »
