ABSTRACT

The inverse problem, that is the design of a syncronous deterministic net of binary mathematical neurons that will perform any sequence of states prescribed a priori, was exactly solved for arbitrary boolean nets (of which cellular automata are particular cases). Nets of linear separable boolean functions, far more restricted in their possible behaviours, are better treated with an approach which specifically exploits their linear aspects. It is shown how to do so. Most considerations do not require syncronicity; they should be of interest also for stochastic treatments. More... »
