Die Adhäsion zirkulierender Zellen an das intestinale Gefäßendothel und die anschließende transendotheliale Migration in die Darmschleimhaut geschehen in der Frühphase von Entzündung und immunologischer Aktivierung und werden über spezielle Zeiladhäsionsmoleküle vermittelt. Einige dieser Adhäsionsmoleküle sind in hochentzündlichen Arealen von Morbus Crohn (MC) und Colitis ulcerosa (CU) vermehrt exprimiert [1,2], während ihre Rolle in der pathophysiologisch interessanteren Frühphase der Erkrankung noch ungeklärt ist.
