ABSTRACT

An MRI-based diagnosis relies both on morphological evaluation of the anatomical structures involved and the characterization of the tissues comprising them. The meniscus of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a fibrous, elliptical, and lenticular structure of varying thickness, with a maximum of 4 mm in the glenoid fossa area, but considerably less than this in the articular surface and in the region of junction with the capsular fibers.
