AUTHORS ABSTRACTThe 2:1 shell effects of the harmonic oscillator and their possible manifestation at low spin for nuclei around 80Zr and 102Zr are briefly reviewed. Attempts to describe the spectrum of 84Zr observed to a tentative 34+ state are discussed. It is concluded that the high-spin branch of this band does not fit into any conventional theory. The importance of more and even better high-spin data in this region is pointed out. More... »
