ABSTRACT

Cell surface components are known to play an important role in cell-to-cell interactions such as recognition, communication and adhesion (Nicolson, 1984; Liotta, 1987; Gabius et al, 1987). Such interactions are important during tumorigenesis, tumor progression and metastasis. Cell surface glycoconjugates, particularly, are known to be involved in the complex process of metastasis.
