ABSTRACT

Protein phosphorylation plays a central role in the regulation of cellular functions. Since the identification of the cAMP-dependent protein kinase much effort has been directed towards the discovery of other multifunctional protein kinases which are involved in transduction of intracellular signals from external stimuli. This review focuses on the recently identified protein kinase C (PKC), a multifunctional protein kinase, that appears to play such a role. More... »
