ABSTRACTGenerative cell cytoskeletal apparatus from several angiosperms has been investigated both by fluorescence procedures and ultrastructural investigations. In all analyzed plants, microfilaments were not present whereas a basket-like structure formed by microtubules surrounded the generative cell. Microtubules were connected by lateral projections resembling those observed in the axoneme. Microtubules and associated lateral structures could be cooperating together in generative cell reshaping during its movement along the tube. More... »
