ABSTRACT

Protein kinases are involved in many neuronal changes induced by activity. Application of phorbol ester causes changes in transmission across certain hippocampal synapses similar to those seen during LTP (Malenka et al., 1986). For this reason, we have injected purified protein kinase C (PK-C) in CA1 hippocampal cells and tested its effect on synaptic activation by afferents in stratum radiatum.
