ABSTRACT

During embryological development the cells undergo a progressive restriction in the ability to undergo all forms of cell differentiation. This phenomenon is usually referred to as determination and it is believed to be a step-wise programming of cells for specific developmental pathways. Determination manifests itself in altered gene expression and in detectable changes in cellular phenotype. These changes will be referred to as differentiation. More... »
