ABSTRACTSensitivity experiments are performed with climate models to determine the changes in the model’s variables resulting from changes in the model’s inputs. One such sensitivity is the global-mean temperature sensitivity, λ = ΔTG/ΔN, where ΔTG is the change in equilibrium surface temperature resulting from a change in the net radiation at the tropopause, ΔN = ßΔy, the latter caused by a change in some quantity y, external to the model, for example, the CO2 concentration the or solar constant.
