ABSTRACT

The various clinical conditions which require intensive care lead to a relatively stereotyped metabolic response called the metabolic stress response. It affects the metabolism of the three major nutrients and the whole process of energy metabolism [1,2] . The metabolic and clinical responses to feeding are also profoundly modified.
